Target Market

I am designing the interior of a social housing flat for a family with a mother, father, and their 5-year-old son. My goal is to create a relaxing space that fits their lifestyle. The parents are in their mid-20s and belong to Generation Z, so I focused on modern, eco-friendly elements and clean lines that they like. I used neutral colors and multifunctional furniture to make the space feel open .

For their son, I designed a playful and organized area with storage to keep toys tidy and space for creativity. The design aims to offer a peaceful, functional environment for both the parents and their young child.

                                                    statistics us npopulation by generation

The chart illustrates the population distribution in the U.S. for 2023 by generation, showing that Generation Z (born 1997–2012) constitutes 20.69% of the population. My project focuses on designing the interior of a social housing flat specifically for a young family from this generation. With parents in their mid-20s, they are part of the 20.69% of the U.S. population.
The design caters to Gen Z’s preferences for modern, and functional living spaces, ensuring it resonates with a significant portion of the population and aligns with current demographic trends(Clara Carlino de Paz, 2024).

For young families from Generation Z, modern and minimalistic designs are usually preferred. But when I will adding bohemian and Moroccan touches can still be appealing. These styles bring unique character and warmth to the space. They make the home inviting and lively while keeping it practical.
By blending these elements, the design can offer both functionality.
I’m planning to incorporate mushroom elements into my design, as I’ve already created a mind map focusing on this theme
                                                                         Mushrooms

I’ve noticed that mushroom accessories are making a comeback in home decor stores. Gen Z has a strong interest in mushrooms, which may go beyond just their home design. I think this trend, like checkered rugs, might be a short-lived fad, but it's still intriguing(Daniela, 2024)
