Research on Millennial Family Home Needs

The client is a millennial family with a mother, father, and five-year-old boy. Millennials, born between 1981 and 1996, have unique needs and preferences when choosing a home (Abrilliant Tribe , 2024)  . This is especially important with a young child. Understanding these preferences helps me to design a floor plan that fits their lifestyle and needs. Firstly, I should know what do millennials want in a home, According (Millennials Magazine, 2024) , I learned that millennials have specific preferences for their homes. They prefer open floor plans that give a encourage space. Smart Home technology is important for security and energy management. Some millennials prefer urban living for work, and they also value homes that they can customize, to reflect their style and needs is important.  Secondly,  I also learned that millennial homebuyers have specific needs, according to (Ellingrud, 2024)  Forbes says that affordability is very...

Floor Plan

Image
During my tutorial with my tutor Zoe about this project this term. She showed every step to make this project. Firstly I have to make a floor plan, so I tried to make this plan in a digital form in SmartDraw. But I did not like it.  So I followed the method Zoe told me during my tutorial. The first step is drawing a bubble diagram. This Diagram helps me to create a design concept easily, and also I can identify a design early in the design process, I find it easy to understand the relationship between spaces. During this period I have a tutorial with my tutor, he shows me an example of drawing a floor plan.  Then I take the bubble diagram that I am drawing and I take another paper to trace using a drawing light pad. Then I drew a floor plan with windows and doors.  Then I made a copy of the floor plan in a site with measures.  Kitchen: 10-12m Boy Room: 10-11m Parents Room: 10-18m Living Room: 22-28m Common Toilet: 2-3m Hallway approximately: 10m

Ashley Gadeova is an artist known for her mix of traditional and modern art techniques. Her work combines traditional and modern art techniques. she explores personal and cultural stories.  Gadeova's art challenges make viewers think about the mix of old and new . The Forest House. Piemonte, Italy For my project I want my living room to look like a mix of elegance with warm wood paneling on the walls add a cozy feel, I like the furniture with a white sofa, plush chairs, and large windows that allow natural light to fill the space. A patterned rug in gray and beige covers the floor. The colors are mainly white, gray, gold, and natural wood. The marble floor adds elegance.  Among all the designs I have seen, I found one real design close to what I have in my mind. This image really inspired me to make a TV wall. I will use wood paneling behind the TV to create a warm and add a touch of luxury,. lighting around the TV wall. The combination of these elements help me to crea...

Mind Map

Image
In the second sessions of Art Portfolio 2. we were tasked with creating a mind map to brainstorm ideas for my project in interior design, as outlined in my design brief. The image I shared reflects the concepts and inspiration I explored during this process.  This mind map outlines my interior design ideas for a 2-bedroom flat. I took inspiration from Connecticut, focusing on nature like trees, flowers, and the Mountain. I also considered local foods such as mushrooms, ice cream, and lobster rolls in the design.  The color palette is earthy and natural. Safety is important, so I'm using safe materials and childproofing the space. the design is simple, with a focus on good use of space and plenty of storage. This mind map helped me organize and visualize these concepts.                                                           ...

WELCOME POST ART PORTFOLIO 2

Image
Welcome back to my blog, I'm excited to return from my break to DMU and continue learning Art Portfolio 2. In this term, I'm willing to thrive in this module by gaining new skills, techniques, and ideas. During my summer vacation spent in Chefchaouen in Morocco. The colors took my breath away, as every neighborhood has its own charm and story behind it. As walking around the street look similar yet different from each other. Because the whole city is blue it represents the color of sky and connects the city to heaven and makes its citizens feel safe and peaceful.  'Few locals believe that the city is blue because it looks good. According to the Islamic culture, happiness and optimism are represented by the color blue.' (Arch20, 2022)   These scenes inspire me as an interior design student that blue with traditional buildings, natural textures, and artisanal decor.  For this term I have an interior design project, in this project, I have to make a boy's room that is ...
