Bohemian & Moroccan Styles : Research

Bohemian Style interior design, or "Boho", is a relaxed and electric style. It uses vibrant colors like deep greens, purples, and blues. Patterns are often mixed, with florals, tribal prints, and geometric designs, textures are layered, combining rugs, soft fabrics, and natural materials like wood and rattan (Stevens, 2024).

The furniture is usually low and comfortable, often including vintage or second-hand pieces, plants are a key feature, adding life and color to the space (Obrzud, 2022) . Decor including personal items like art, books, and travel souvenirs, making the space feel unique and lived-in.

Bohemian and Moroccan interior designs are very similar. both use vibrant colors like deep blues, res, and earthy tones. they feature bold patterns, with Moroccan designs focusing on geometric shapes and Bohemian on florals and tribal prints. rich textures are common in both styles, including, layers rugs and soft fabrics (Marrakechecrafts, 2023) .

The furniture is often low and comfortable, with poufs and cushions. both styles also use lots of plants and personal and personal items for decoration. this creates warm, electric, and inviting spaces.

I did a search to discover the designers who make the Bohemian style and I found.

Justina Blakeney is a designer known for Bohemian style. her brand, Jungalow, features vibrant colors and electric patterns. She uses lots of plants, vintage furniture, and global decor. Her designs create relaxed and unique spaces(David Christopher Kaufman, 2023) .

Also I found, Michael S. Smith is a designer known for Moroccan style. He uses bold colors and intricate patterns. His designs often include mosaic tiles and low seating. Smith creates elegant and inviting spaces with rich textures (Author Michael S. Smith, 2018).

This mood board mixes Moroccan and Bohemian styles, I want to create a cozy and welcoming space. The orange furniture adds warmth and texture. I included woven plates and abstract art to show Moroccans influences. Natural materials like the woven light and potted plant bring a bohemian feel. The metal and wood elements add contrast tie the look together.

This mood board connects directly to my apartment design project. I plan to use the same colors and textures from this mood board i the apartment. I will create a harmonious look. Blending Moroccan and Bohemian styles will be more affective with this approach.

As an interior design student, This mood board helped me explore how to combine different styles. I learned to balance patterns, textures, and colors a cozy design. this experience was important for building my design skills  in mixing different styles and applying them to a real design.
